Ground Breaking of First Huduma Digital Centre
In a significant stride toward enhancing public service delivery and empowering the youth, Cabinet Secretary
for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management
of the Ministry broke ground for the first Huduma Digital Centre in Runyenjes, Embu County.
This innovative centre combines the functionalities of a Huduma Centre and a Digital Hub, creating a dynamic space where citizens can access essential government services while young people gain valuable skills for the digital economy.
The Runyenjes Huduma Digital Centre aims to enhance access to public services and reduce the burden on residents of Kagaari South, Kagaari North, Gaturi North, Runyenjes Central, Kyeni South, and Kyeni North.
Currently, residents travel significant distances—24.5 km to Embu and 57.5 km to Kirinyaga—to access public services. By establishing this centre, Huduma Kenya will also alleviate congestion in Embu town and Chuka, benefiting Evurori Ward and Gaturi South, which are approximately 30 km from Ishiara and 15 km from Gaturi South to Runyenjes.
In attendance at the event was the Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service Mr. Amos Gathecha EBS ndc (K), Governor, Embu Hon. Cecily Mbarire, Area MP, Runyenjes Hon. Karemba Muchangi among other dignitaries.
